108 / #project365 – Holy Monday

Perhaps three or four years ago it actually snowed at Easter. This year, Holy Week and Easter look like being blessed with beautiful weather.

After morning mass, I sat in the garden with Angela, reading, and watching the breeze swirl blossom.

A trip to the dumpit site and diy shop punctuated potato planting, preparation of the ground, and shifting a load of compost.

I can see the attraction of the Benedictine way.

Surprised by orthodoxy

I am re-reading G K Chesterton’s Orthodoxy. It contains these words:

“If you draw a giraffe, you must draw him with a long neck. If, in your bold creative way, you hold yourself free to draw a giraffe with a short neck, you will really find that you are not free to draw a giraffe.”

For much of the sixteen years that I have been a Catholic, I have been trying to draw a giraffe with a short neck.
